List of Grammy Nominees is released on November 10th 2023

The list of nominees for the 2024 Grammys was announced on November 10, 2023, including very prominent names from the music industry today.

The most nominated artist at the awards this year is SZA, with nine nominations. Following her is Phoebe Bridgers, who has been nominated seven times with her group Boygenius as well as for a collaboration with SZAon the song “Ghost in the Machine”, as well as Jonelle Monet and Serban Genea (mixing engineer) having seven nominations. The musicians with six nominations include Jack Antonoff (producer), Jon Batiste, Boygenius, Brandy Clark, Noah Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift.

The nominations for Album of the Year include Lana Del Ray’s Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, Miley Cyrus Endless Summer Vacation, Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts, Taylor Swift’s Midnights, Sza’s SOS, Janelle Monáe’s The Age of Pleasure, Boygenius’ the record, and Jon Batiste’s World Music Radio

Taylor Swift has had arguably one of best years of her career, with three albums released in the process of re-recording her stolen music and her tour The Eras Tour becoming the highest-grossing tour in a single year, making her tenth studio album Midnights a top contender for Album of the Year. Olivia Rodirgo’s Guts, her widely successful sophomore album, displays a breakthrough through Rodrigo as she explores new genres and widens her vocal range. Listeners can notice growth and maturity from her debut album SOUR, which Rodrigo released at 18 years old in 2021.

Due to SZA being the most nominated artist at the Grammys this year, her extremely successful second studio album SOS has a high chance of winning Album of the Year. Lana Del Ray has been nominated six times for the Grammys in past years, including for Album of the Year in 2020. Though she has not won a Grammy, fans are very hopeful this year and believe she is deserving of winning an award, as she has also been nominated for Best Alternative Music Album, Song of the Year, Best Alternative Music Performance, and Best Pop/Duo Group Performance.

“I loved Lana’s newest album and I think she deserves to win the award after being nominated in past years,” says Abby Medina ‘24.

The nominees for Album of the Year are Jack Antonoff, D’MIle Metro Boomin, and Daniel Nego. One of the top nominees for Producer of the Year is arguably Jack Antanoff, as he has won the award in 2022 and 2023. He is also a producer on two albums nominated for Album of the Year, Lana Del Ray’s Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd and Taylor Swift’s Midnights. Metro Boomin is also a top contender, as he produced the album for the film Across The Spider-Verse.

The nominees for Best New Artist include Gracie Abrams, Fred again.., Ice Spice, Jelly Roll, Coco Jones, Noah Kahan, Victoria Monét, and The War and Treaty. Gracie Abrams released her debut album Good Riddance in February 2023 and was an opening act on Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour. Seeing as the tour was as popular as it was, this gives Abrams a good chance of winning the award. However, there is another artist who also made an appearance on The Eras Tour and has a strong chance of taking the title home: Ice Spice. Ice Spice has been very popular this past year in the music industry, featuring on the song “Barbie World” with Nicki Minaj and the remix of Taylor Swift’s “Karma”.

Many nominees have had an extremely successful past year in their careers, whether it be hit singles, albums, or tours. Any artist or musician mentioned above has a very high chance of winning an award, yet the Academy Awards usually have a way of surprising (and sometimes astonishing) their viewers.
