ESPN+releases+The+Last+Dance+documentary

With very little Sports entertainment going right now, ESPN and Netflix decided to release their highly-anticipated “The Last Dance” documentary. A 10-part series that provides behind the scenes footage and interviews of former Chicago Bulls players, coaches, journalists, broadcasters, and opponents. Not only do basketball fans want to learn more about the great Chicago Bulls teams of the 90’s, but the well-known great – Michael Jordan.

Since his retirement following the ‘03 NBA season, Jordan has gone somewhat “MIA” in the basketball world. One of the reasons why people all-over the world were so anxious to watch this documentary was because of MJ. A deeper look inside his winning mentality, and every little detail that led to their 6 NBA Championships. As the docuseries debuted April 19, the first four episodes are the four most-viewed broadcasts on ESPN since 2004 with an average of 6 million watchers.

The series takes fans inside the dynasty of the Chicago Bulls, and all the ups and downs included. Individual episodes were given to the four most memorable guys; Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and Head Coach Phil Jackson. Learning more about each individual player, the cameras and private interviews give viewers a glimpse of what exactly went on during their title runs. Almost every impact-player from 1985-1998 has sat down to interview for the docuseries, including some of the Bulls biggest rivals.

Each episode carries different information leading up to “The Last Dance.” Basketball fans learn how important winning truly was to Michael Jordan. Dating back to his rookie season, both the positive and negative aspects are presented, and what he did to become one of the greatest basketball players ever. If it was his desire to tear apart his teammates in practice in ways to only make them better, or losing incredible amounts of money due to a gambling addiction, the mentality of Jordan and everything he experienced throughout his career shaped how millions of people view him today.

When asking sophomore Dane Costabile what some of his takeaways were after watching “The Last Dance” he said, “This series has been a more in depth way of showing how Michael Jordan became arguably the best basketball player and athlete of all time. Whether that means showing us the dark truth as well as the positive facade around his mental health and career as a whole.”

A top-headline since quarantine began, “The Last Dance” has been a must-watch television series, and a deeper look inside those dominant Bulls teams of the 90’s.
