Helpful Apps to Make Studying Cool Again

As school starts up again, it is oftentimes a struggle for students to transition from the easygoing days of summer to the stressful, busy days of the school year. Because of this, it is easy for procrastination to set in. While many students procrastinate by going on their phones, frequenting apps such as snapchat, instagram, and facebook; few students are aware that there are also many educational apps available which discourage procrastination while encouraging the tackling of a heavy workload.

Duolingo

Duolingo is an app that can assist with learning a second language. You can easily translate any webpage into any language from this app and play little games to help learn the language better.

Quizlet

Popular among many students, Quizlet is a great method of studying without having to carry a bunch of flashcards everywhere. Many teachers use quizlet, but some students don’t know that it is an app in addition to the website. You can create your own personal flashcards, using text, image and audio, and you can do quizzes. It is a great study and memorization tool. Student Lauren Browne says that she likes “using this app because there are different ways to actually learn your words, so there is something that will work for everyone.”

Edupath

With college around the corner, it is smart to always have your future in mind. This app allows you to narrow down your preferences for college when it comes to size, location, acceptance rate, etc. Then, you can favorite your top colleges and have an ongoing list of the best schools for you. For each college, it gives a detailed description of student life, size, school spirit, and just overall the type of college it is. It also gives quotes from students who went to the school. It is an overall super helpful app that can help you narrow down college choices, which is especially helpful for upperclassman.

Sleep Cycle

A majority of us students are sleep deprived these days, so anything to help us get a slightly higher quality sleep can make a big difference in performance in school and attentiveness. This app analyzes your sleep while you are sleeping and when its time to get up, it wakes you up in your lightest stage of sleep.

My Homework

Instead of writing down your homework in the planner that the school gave us, which can sometimes be inconvenient, this is an app where you can record all of your homework. It is a super organized and navigable app that makes it easy because now you can see all of your homework whenever you want. Isabel Haut was the one who discovered this app, saying that “it motivates me to be productive and organized.” screen-shot-2016-09-26-at-10-15-54-am
