Bernards High school had their annual winter choir concert which was festive and memorable as the whole choir department showed amazing talent and skills. Mr. Lapine, the Choir director, introduced three new groups to the program, Bella Voce, Forte Voce and Chorale, while keeping the very skilled Madrigals group. These four groups combined filled the auditorium and audience with holiday spirit.
The concert opened with Chorale who performed songs such as, O come Emmanuel, Deck the Halls and White Winter Hymnal where the group completed body percussions during the song. Chorale’s performance helped to captivate the audience with their vocals and energy. Following that performance Bella voce, which is an all girls class, helped to keep up the holiday spirit. With more classical winter songs such as, Riu, Riu, Chiu, Greensleeves, I Choose Love, and more, the group delivered an amazing performance that showed their skill. Forte voce opened with Omnia Vincit Amor and ended with fan-favorites including You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch, and Rest not. Unlike Bella voce, Forte voce is an all boys class, where each and every student is driven and committed which showed in their performance. The Madrigals who are accomplished and gifted in their singing, performed after Forte voce. With songs such as My spirit sang all day, Come and dance, Beati Quorum Via, and many more, the Madrigals left a lasting impression on the audience.
To conclude the concert all of the choir classes came together to sing Joy to the World. As a sweet and annual gesture, Mr. Lapine asked all the BHS choir alumni in the audience to come and join the rest of the classes on stage to sing.
Alumni Meghan Fitzpatrick said that “reprising my role in Joy to the World was really a moment for me where I felt so much joy”.
Throughout the whole evening, every choir class presented skill and commitment to the program leading to an overall great performance and cheerful night.
