After a long summer of pre-season scrimmages and practices Bernards soccer was hoping for a great start to the season. With the team having eight of eleven seniors in the starting team. Bernards is looking to go out with a bang and a state win. The season started off with a home game against Immaculata at home. The game ended with a convincing six nothing win for Bernards with Vinny Cabrera scoring two, Kian Fazel with one, Mattias Lopez with one, Nick Neptune with one, and substitute Daniel Weiber scoring one to finish the scoring.

Following the convincing win against Immaculata Bernards travel away for a game against Gill.  From the start, the game was heated between the two rival teams. At the end of the first half, the game was knotted up at one with Dan Paez netting a late penalty just before the half. At the end of regulation, Bernards and Gill were both able to find the back of the net to force the game to an sudden-death overtime.  Unfortunately, the game ended in a early Gill goal to end the game three two with Dan Paez and Nico Arza scoring for Bernards. Following the game, senior captain Max Stanley said “We gave it everything we had and even though they unfortunately managed to squeeze in a lucky goal in extra time, I believe that we proved to be the better team because we played with more skill and passion. Every Bernards player did everything they could out there and did not give in to the pressure and the Gill crowd’s taunts.”

Nico Arza, Vinny Cabrera, Dan Paez, and freshmen Jacob Siegle score in the four one win over Voorhees. This was Siegle’s first varsity goal as a freshmen. With that convincing win the team looks to improve with a big game against Mount Olive.

Going into the fourth game of the season Bernards plays a strong Mount Olive team. Bernards looked strong in the beginning of the game with a Vinny Cabrera goal followed by a Dan Paez goal to seal the game at two zero for Bernards. Junior goalie Andres Lezme said after the game “ We played hard and we got the result we wanted over a very strong Mount Olive team.” After that good win the team improves to three one.

Delaware Valley travels to Olcott field for an inter-conference match against the Mountaineers. Bernards ended the game with a stunning four goals from senior Nick Neptune. Assists from Dan Paez and Vinny Cabrera.

Dan Paez scores a team record five goals as Bernard’s roll past Warren Hills nine zero. The rest of the team scored four goals with Martin Botti, Kian Fazel, and Nick Neptune scoring two. The team improves to a strong record of five one.
