A new rom-com has hit the theaters! Premiering on December 22, Anyone But You stars Euphoria‘s popular actor, Sydney Sweeney, playing Beatrice in the movie; Top Gun: Maverick’s actor, Glen Powell, is playing Ben in this rom-com, as well. Many other remarkable actors are starring in this movie, too, like Darren Barnet, Charlee Fraiser, Alexandra Shipp, and plenty more!

Anyone But You is Sydney Sweeney’s first-ever romantic comedy, and fans were happy to see her starring in a movie while Euphoria renewed its new season. Fans think Anyone But You was the perfect way for her to shine somewhere besides Euphoria; BHS student Sophia Fazel ‘26 says, “Euphoria is a great show, but seeing Sydney Sweeney in a romantic comedy shows how much she shines as an actor.”

Glenn Powell has starred in one other romantic comedy, Set It Up 2018, but this Rom-Com does not seem as loved as Anyone But You. BHS student Neve Meiner ’26 says, “I recently just watched Set It Up because I loved Glen Powell in Anyone But You, but I didn’t really like Set It Up l because the plot was very boring and Anyone But You’s plot is much better and more interesting to watch.”

Anyone But You is loosely based on one of William Shakespeare’s comedy screenplays, Much Ado About Nothing. With Anyone But You having a very similar plot, the directors twist the plot a little and make it more exciting than the original play.

In the movie, Bea, a failed law student, and Ben, a stockbroker meet again because Bea’s sister, Halle, is getting married to Ben’s friend, Claudia. Even though these two are known for hating each other after a miscommunication they encountered, Ben wants to make his fiance, Margaret, jealous, so Bea agrees to help Ben, and these two fake a romance together. After convincing their friends and family that what they have is real, ultimately Bea and Ben’s fake romance turns into something very real.

With major plot twists, and scenes that will keep you on your toes thinking, “What is gonna happen next,” Anyone but You is a movie that doesn’t disappoint and leaves you wanting more! “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield was played throughout the whole movie leaving people singing and dancing when leaving the movie.

If you enjoy heartfelt Romantic Comedies, then Anyone But You is the perfect movie to watch in the theater with your friends and family!
