Boys Lacrosse:

The boys lacrosse team will officially start on March 30th, but preseason practices and scrimmages have been going on since the beginning of March. They open their official season away against Pope John at 4:30pm. They have a preseason record of 3-2, but hope to increase their number of wins as they enter the season. The team has many seniors taking the field on varsity, including Charlie Greco, Donnie Heppes, Aidan Brown, Michael Leanza and captains Sean Doran, Harry Kauffman, Nick Paterno, and Zach Zukowsky. In an interview with Kauffman he shared, “We are off to a slow start but everyday we seem to improve more than we know and we will be more than ready when states come around.”

After a very successful season last year making it all the way through states to the final round, the team looks to make another run for the state championship. Going against Pope John in the past the game usually has a positive outcome. The last time Bernards went against Pope John was in 2019 where we won 12-2. The next home game scheduled is against Delbarton on April 15th at 4:00pm.

Girls Lacrosse:

The girls are set to start on March 30th for their official season home opener against Hillsborough HS at 4:15. The game against Hillsborough will be an exciting game as both teams have had close games winning back and forth over the past few seasons. The team consists of six seniors: Carmen Stanley, Bianca Diaz, Nathalie Abello, Ella Keener, and captains Casey Faltudo and Emily Romano. Coach McGinn shared, “I am very excited for the season though- the squad is back up to pre Covid numbers so we are expecting about 80 players. Emily Romano and Casey Falduto are co captains. Can’t wait to get back to work! The theme of the season is Make it Count #brycestrong.”

Although a majority of the varsity team consists of underclassmen, they still have a tremendous amount of talent that will help them in states and the county tournament. They have had a rocky preseason losing the first two games, but are confident they will be ready for the regular season games.
