Famed for both its out-of-classroom success and academic expertise, Bernards High School remains one of New Jersey’s top-performing public schools. Bernard’s eye-catching academics, high graduation rates, and high scores on college readiness, places them among the top 50 New Jersey high schools by the U.S. News & World Report. But what truly sets Bernards apart is what goes above and beyond the numbers, the pride and school spirit that gives the community life.

Home to just 800 students, Bernards offers a vast variety of courses that allow you to pursue your interests. The teachers are always there to guide you and support you in whichever way they can, and no one is ever left behind. “My teachers make the environment a friendly and relaxed place to learn,” says Charlotte Caggiano ’28. Success is something in which the whole school becomes invested.

Outside of academics, Bernards has a vibrant student life. At this year’s club fair, there were over 20 lively organizations to join, ranging from  Life Club, to yearbook club, to Art Club, Key Club, and Yoga Club. They offer a chance for students to learn something new, take on leadership roles, and form new friendships. “Life Club is a great way to explore more about your faith and connect with the people around you,” says Victor Panasik ’26.

Bernards also has an exceptional athletic program, with teams that consistently perform well in conference and state competitions. The football team recently clinched its sixth consecutive divisional title, showing how hard work and teamwork continues to define the Mountaineer spirit. “The football team is a very close-knit group, and we’ve all been able to connect together to keep our winning streak going,” shares Jordan Riley ’27.

Mountaineer spirit is in full effect for homecoming week, as the student body is coming together to create an amazing atmosphere. Homecoming Week is here which means spirit days, a Friday pep rally, the Homecoming Red Out football game, and, of course, the Great Gatsby themed homecoming dance that everyone has been anxiously awaiting.

Bernards is not just one of the best-ranked schools, it’s a community fueled by passion and commitment. From the classroom to the playing field to any school function, Bernards proves its strength comes from the students, the teachers, and the community that built it.
