There are several new shows coming to the small screen this Fall. The new series Utopia debuted on on Sept. 7, 2014 to 4.6 million viewers. 15 ambitious Americans leave their everyday lives, and move to an isolated, undeveloped location where they are challenged to create their own civilization, or “utopia” for an entire year.

On Tuesday, September 9th Utopia pulled in 2.5 million views, and continued to drop viewers to only 1.9 million on September 12th. FOX Television Group chairwoman and CEO Dana Walden told The Wrap, “We launched it really early, maybe before viewers were ready for a new fall show. No one thought we were going to launch a huge ratings juggernaut, but with patience it will grow and we’re going to have patience.” Tune in any day on FOX.com to watch a live stream of a raw reality show that is full of drama and challenging conditions.

FOX is also promoting a Batman- themed drama which explores conflicts in the city of Gotham. Gotham is the story of Detective James Gordon’s rise through a corrupt city, that teeters on the edge of evil. Gotham also tributes the birth of one of the most popular superheroes of our time. The TCA named Fox’s Gotham, “most promising” new show of the fall TV season.

Batman’s prequel is stuffed with old villains, and new future villains which appear after the significant death of Bruce Wayne’s parents. According to Collider, “Gotham is the origin story for a number of the characters in the Batman universe, including Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler and Poison Ivy, as it shows what made the formidable adversities that they eventually eat.”

The new drama The Affair will air on October 12th. This series displays the psychological effects of an affair between a married waitress, Allison and a teacher who spends his summer in the Hamptons with his in-laws. The drama will be told separately from the two characters’ perspectives. Allison’s emotionally charged marriage will become even more complicated when she begins an affair with a married man of 17 years, Noah.

Red Band Society premiered on September 17th. People says, “Red Band Society, which could turn out to be one of the best new shows of the fall, is like that, constantly catching you unexpectedly. A show about young people dealing with terrible illnesses (cancer, failing hearts, eating disorders) could have us weeping nonstop without even having to try – it could go for broke either with reminders of early death or life-affirming lessons about the enduring human spirit.”

Red Band Society’s humanity lies within its skeptical humor- the humor of the patients. Tune in on Wednesdays to view the journey of five teens struggling to survive, and struggling to handle the social obstacles of being in high school.  Along with new premieres, many shows will be returning for another packed season. Sons of Anarchy is returning for its seventh season, and is full of dramatic plot lines, included with some intriguing comedic undertones.

Lastly, The Walking Dead is returning for its fifth season on October 12th. “From the opening tease in premiere onward, season five is without question the most ambitious and satisfying season this amazing team has ever crafted,” according to AMC president, Charlie Collier. Be on the look out for the premieres of other top-hit shows: Homeland on HBO, Nashville on ABC, and Almost Human on FOX.
