2020: Year in Review

2020%3A+Year+in+Review

As the ball fell to reign in 2020, we kissed our loved ones and cheered for a new beginning. That’s what 2020 was, a new beginning that taught civilization how to try and spot the good out of all the evil.

The first tragedy started with Australia facing their worst fear, bushfires; fires raged across the majority of the country killing 18.6 million hectares of land and a rough estimate of 1 billion animals. In America, there was the possibility of war breathing down it’s neck for over a month; citizens of the United States lived in a state of paranoia that we as a country would go into a sudden war with Iranians.

Eventually things had calmed down but there was chaos, and no beauty in the year thus far. That’s when fans of one of our worlds greatest athletes faced a tragic and sudden death, Kobe Bryant. He and his daughter along with family friends of theirs died in a helicopter crash. This left Vanessa Bryant widowed with 3 children to look after.

After things had started to cool down, what everyone believed to be the end of the bad in what was supposed to be a good year, the worst happened. Covid-19 had spread quickly and there was no stopping it. As our world was in a pandemic, facing challenges that generations haven’t fully experienced, we had to adjust quickly. Schools, restaurants, entertainment were all shut down; it was as if society had come to a standstill. There was no news, nothing to catch up on with friends and family. Life was nothing, just hours passing making light of the time spent in isolation.

As the weather got warmer there was promise for new life, and some stopped caring for the pandemic and changed to the mindset of survival of the fittest.

As we began to live life again, Americans had turned their backs on one another, we were faced with injustice in our lives. The battle between what was right and what wasn’t, no one could agree on anything in regards to the BLM movement and ALM. With our worlds divided we couldn’t stand as a united front causing all things to fall apart. We continued to remain divided as the ball had dropped again. Although, the ball had dropped a minute late. People across the globe are wishing for a better year to see the light as there was only darkness this last year.
