You may know her as the youngest of the Kardashian/ Jenner sisters from the television show keeping up with the kardashians. Kylie is constantly watched in the eye of the public for all she does, and over the years she has built up a community of young girls who idolize and look up to her, which makes us wonder is Kylie Jenner really a good role model and should young girls look up to her?
No, Kylie Jenner is not some one young girls should be idolizing. From her countless plastic surgeries to her inappropriate relationship with her current boyfriend, Tyga she is definitely not someone you would want your teenage daughter looking up to. In 2014 Kylie got her first ever surgery at the age of sixteen. It all started with a nose job and then later when she turned seventeen she decided to get lip injection that left such a dramatic difference that was not surprising when her fans began to notice the difference. But what really made her lips an issue was when she proceeded to lie to the public about the surgery saying “it’s just lip liner”. When you have a platform as big Kylie it can really be a problem when lying about what your body really looks like. Because Kylie is constantly posting her self image and body all over her snapchat and instagram for millions of people to view on the daily, many girls look up to her and want to have a “perfect” body that she only achieved because she has the money to pay for surgeries to change her appearance. Looking back at the young Kylie from 2010 and the Kylie six years later there is a drastic difference in facial structure and her body built. She has gone under the knife ten times and has lied about multiple of her surgeries. She is rumored to have had butt implants, breast implants, a face filler, jawline reduction, lip fillers, veneers, eyebrow lift, eyelid surgery, nose job and chin implants and countless of other surgeries. How can you be a role model and lie to over 30 million people about who you really are? Kylie is also not a good role model because of her inappropriate relationship with Tyga. She started dating the 25 year old, Tyga shortly after he got out of his relationship with not only his former girlfriend but the mother of his two year old son King, Blac Chyna. Kylie being seventeen dating a twenty-five year old is not only illegal but extremely inappropriate. Along with her inappropriate relationship she also has not even finished high school, and while she is extremely successful she would never have that without her family reality television show. While there are many reasons to question if Kylie jenner is a good role model there are also some reason why young girls may look up to her.
There may be some doubts if nineteen year old Kylie Jenner is a fit role model for young girls but there definitely are some reason why people may look up to her. First, which may surprise you but Kylie has been financially independent since the age of fourteen, paying for everything she may need or want now Kylie is nine teen paying her own bills and living on her own which is very rare for a nineteen year to be so successful. Aside from her being financially independent as a nineteen year old for over five years she also a teenage entrepreneur. Ranging from her clothing line in pacsun to her more commonly known liquid lipsticks Kylie is extremely successful in the business department. Besides the fact that she is killing it as a young businesswoman she also is doing an amazing job giving back in 2013 she auctioned off her clothes giving all profits to charity not only that but she spent this last thanksgiving with her boyfriend Tyga helping out at a soup kitchen for those in need. And when not posting racy photos on her social media she makes sure to empower young girls to always be themselves and be body positive, Kylie says “yes I gained weight there I said it so you don’t have to.” Finally in 2014 she was named one of time’s most influential teens. Now if she is influential in a positive or negative way that is up to the people to decide on how they view her decisions.
Kylie has reasons why we should not let her be a role model for young girls like her inappropriate relationship with Tyga but then again when you look at her success and how she tries to use her platform to raise money for charity and what she’s gone through it makes you wonder, is Kylie Jenner a good role model?
