Sounds Around Town is an annual performance event in the center of Bernardsville that took place Friday, May 15 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Every year, there are multiple bands that perform in the center of the traffic circle at Olcott Square, in the Kings parking lot, and in front of the train station. One of the bands that played in the Kings parking lot, was our very own Bernards High School students, including Seniors Jett Singh, Carter Prince, Rachel Goldman, and Farrell Tamke. All these bands bring great crowds, and everyone just sits in front and sing along to the different genres of music. The Bernards band was playing modern pop music, while the band in the center of the circle was playing jazz attracting more of an older crowd. Freshman Alexi Piirimae said, “It was a great opportunity to experience different kinds of music. All of the stands were very impressive and fun, especially O-PA’s. They had trampolines, a music venue right on the lawn, and they were raffling off frozen yogurt coupons.”

Every year there many tables on the sidewalks for people to check out when they walk by. Wavelength Audio Video were displaying electronics and flyers for people who were interested. There was a table just for clothing and accessories, at a significant discount, and there was also a face paint and balloon table just for the little kids to be entertained with. Freshmen Jacqueline Hecker really enjoyed the experience of volunteering and going to Sounds Around Town and said, “It was really fun and my favorite part was just walking around and looking at the shops.” Compared to last year, there were around the same amount of people walking around. There were high school students, middle school students, elementary students, senior citizens, and adults strolling the center of Bernardsville, looking at all the stands, listening to the entertainment, and eating some snacks.
