On April 17, 2015, pest control identified that  F-202, the Choir room, had to be treated through a specific process for bed bugs. On April 18, pest control treated the room and posted the require notification on the classroom and outside doors. Mr. Neigel says, “They had multiple people here and they checked all possibly impacted locations, treated, and will perform a follow up.”

There was speculation about the conduction of gym classes and if students had to change. Mr. Neigel says, “There was no type of evidence of bed bugs within any of the locker rooms. Students are still required to change for PE class” Many students were worried about the spreading of the bugs, Lejla Hodzic says, “I feel disgusted because the bed bugs could’ve easily latched onto students and then been transferred into their homes, but I’m so glad that everything is cleared now.”

Incidents such as this seem unavoidable and unpreventable but Mr. Neigel says, “We are working with the health department as well. If they were found in a home and were then transferred to the school, we need to make sure that the health department is aware and that it’s addressed accordingly.”
